A custom die-cast medal is made from scratch for your event. We create a mould from your design, cast it in zinc alloy at around 60 to 70 mm and 4 mm thick, then plate, polish and fill it with coloured enamel, so every line of the artwork stands in relief.
Why a custom die-cast medal is worth the extra lead time
It is the medal people keep and display. The shape can follow your logo, a landmark, a falcon, a map or the event number, and cut-outs, spinners and bottle-opener backs are all possible. Organisers order it for marathons and triathlons, corporate championships, national celebrations, government initiatives and commemorative anniversaries in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait. Compare it with quicker stock options in our event medals range, or explore the wider awards and recognition catalogue.
How the design is made
The artwork is cut into the mould, so the logo becomes part of the metal.
- [Embossed and debossed metal detail](/branding/debossing-embossing): raised and recessed areas at two or three depth levels, across the full face.
- Soft enamel adds colour inside recessed areas; printed inserts handle gradients.
- Laser engraving on the reverse adds names, dates or serial numbers.
Finishes include antique gold, shiny silver, bronze and black nickel. You approve a 2D proof and, on request, a 3D render before casting.
Ribbons, boxes and ordering
Medals come with a 25 to 35 mm sublimated ribbon in your design, packed in bags or velvet boxes. Medals in flag colours are popular for UAE National Day and Saudi National Day events. MOQ and lead time are shown here and confirmed in your quote, as moulds take time. Start a custom medal quote with your sketch or logo.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the minimum order higher than stock medals?
Each design needs its own mould, which is a fixed cost. Spreading it over around 100 pieces or more keeps the price per medal sensible. Smaller quantities are possible, but the mould cost weighs more per piece.
Can the medal be a custom shape?
Yes. Die casting can follow almost any outline, including your logo, a landmark or a number. Very thin parts may be thickened slightly for strength. We show the final outline on the proof.
Can we reuse the mould for next year?
Usually yes. The mould is kept for a period after your order, so a repeat order with the same design avoids a new mould cost. Changing the year on the reverse can often be done by engraving.
Can medals be personalised with names or times?
Yes. Names, categories or finishing times can be laser engraved on the reverse after the event. This adds a few days, so plan it into your schedule.
